Vizhinjam International Seaport · Kerala, India
Meridian Shipping Services attends vessels calling at Vizhinjam — clearances, berthing, crew, stores and the paperwork that has to be right before a ship sails. Twenty-four metres of natural depth, ten miles off the east–west lane, and one agency answering the phone at any hour.
What we attend to
A port call goes wrong in small ways: a document filed late, a surveyor who was never booked, a crew change that misses the shift. The work below is the work of making sure none of that happens on your vessel.
Pre-arrival formalities, Notice of Readiness, berthing and pilotage arrangements, statement of facts, and clearance outwards.
Provisions, fresh water, spares, laundry, technicians on board and cash to master. The unglamorous half of a call, and the half crews remember.
Sign-on and sign-off, immigration and shore passes, transport and hotels, and repatriation through Thiruvananthapuram, 20 km from the berth.
Owner's eyes on a charterer's call. Independent attendance, reporting and verification of what was actually supplied and actually done.
Bunker delivery arranged and coordinated, quantity survey attended, and the delivery note checked against what was actually pumped.
Class and P&I surveyor attendance, draught surveys, riding squads and afloat repair coordination.
The port
Vizhinjam is India's first deepwater container transhipment terminal, commissioned in May 2025 and operated by Adani Vizhinjam Port Private Limited. It sits about ten nautical miles off the main east–west shipping lane and has roughly twenty-four metres of natural depth, so the largest container vessels afloat come alongside without dredging and without part-discharging first.
In May 2025 the terminal worked MSC Türkiye, 399.99 m overall and 24,346 TEU. Cargo that used to tranship through Colombo, Singapore or Salalah can be worked here instead.

How a call runs
Nothing here is unusual. It is set out so an owner can see exactly where the agent sits in the call and what has to land before the next step can start.
